“The particular uniqueness of Springboard programs is the clear understanding of what it takes to move through the social entrepreneuring process from start to finish. They do this by guiding and moving launchers step-by-step, utilizing their own expertise and linkages to incredibly innovative, competent and skilled individuals and organizations. This is done with the understanding that it is human nature to get stuck in one task or another.

Consequently we are kept on pace with supportive, thought provoking, and interesting tasks aimed at constantly moving us forward."

LOCAL AGENDA FOR HIGH ED

We offer a unique Local Agenda program designed for a universitiy setting. It meets the needs of college students, both undergraduate and graduate. The cross-discipline nature of the program allows for real-world engagement across discplines. Its approach is to take students throughthe process of becoming a social entreprenuer, not as a simulation, but as if they would do so after graduation. They connect with community programs and needs, and design projects both innovative and sustainable.

Students in higher education need opportunities to envision themselves in the world, engaged in leadership roles and working seide-by-side with other adults in meaningful roles. Local Agenda provides the chance for them to practice putting themselves into the community and exploring what good they might do. Students from all majors and disciplines flourish.

What kinds of projects do students envision?
Students in Local Agenda designed programs to battle childhood diabetes, help adopt homeless animals, increase the number of students entering college, and improve youth health. Each idea was unique, innovative, and included a sustaining strategy to offset costs.

“This was a great class. It was the first time I had been asked to imagine byself running an organization, and having to present my ideas in public. It really made me realize the kinds of classes I should look for next year.”
