Redefining convenience, for the future...

CREATE PLENTY
Founder Cheryl Lohrmann

It used to be about what we put in our bodies--the food and drink that helps make us who we are. Now, it's also about where that food comes from and what it comes in. Cheryl has designed a place to learn about, cook, and grow food, alongside a convenience store that offers food and other goods without the deadly plastic packaging that will inconvenience us in the future.

IMAGINE: Neighborhoods where people and place and food connect in meaningful and engaged ways for fuller and healthier lives.

Create Plenty is a demonstration site and activity center that provides sustainable models of the whole food system loop in one accessible, neighborhood location. It provides a place where people can see and experience the connectedness of life.  As a neighborhood gathering place that welcomes everyone, Create Plenty builds lasting relationships and stronger communities.

MISSION: Create a replicable Action Center that provides opportunities for growing, preparing and sharing food, and buying and selling local products without any single-use plastic--reducing waste and creating plenty.

Create Plenty is a neighborhood resource center and gathering place that leads by example. It offers community members a variety of activities in the growing, preparing, and sharing of food. These activities teach resourcefulness, nurture community engagement, and empower people to rebuild and value food culture. Instead of working on problems in isolation, Create Plenty connects the moving parts of the whole system.

Strategies

  • Provide a demonstration site that models healthy systems, including the whole food system loop of growing, preparing and sharing food, along with waste-free, creative, and resourceful living and business practices.
  • Create a resource hub and market for local food growers and producers, including a market and delicatessen of locally grown and produced goods.
  • Form a venue for community interaction and the interchange of ideas by hosting workshops, community dinners, weekly film rotations, gatherings, and other events.
  • Offer material reuse innovation practices, exhibits, services, and certification.
